I just got a video FlipCam Ultra. And I got a great price!

Generally I don’t go for the latest technology. There’s often bugs in the first version AND it’s the highest price. I’m not a big gadget person, anyway.

I decided to get the Flip Cam because as part of “Your Excellent Adventure” I want to bring lots of videos to you. Videos with good info to share. Videos of the places I see on my travels. I needed something uber-simple or it’ll stay in the case.

I love shopping and getting the best deal. I’m not a coupon shopper at the grocery store (a lot of it is junk food) but I watch for the best deals and stock up a bit when things I use are marked down. I watch prices on gasoline, I have a Barnes & Noble discount card, I shop at DSW Shoe Outlet and I know where all the 50 percent off racks are at Dillards.

So, I was happy to discover a cool app (it’s free) to comparison shop online for my FlipCam. You can compare prices of what you’re looking for – even if you don’t buy online.

Once it’s downloaded (20 seconds) here’s how it works: Go to your favorite search engine – Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Type in what you’re looking for. It works with anything you shop for – furniture, a car, clothing, laptops, appliance, jewelry, there are even grocery coupons available. ANYTHING. Then click.

A bar will appear across the bottom of your screen. (It only appears when you search – the rest of the time it disappears.) It says: Amazon, Costco, Walmart, Ebay, Buy.com, DigiDn, Compare, Map and Deals. Then, the icon for My Shopping Genie. It looks like a smurf wearing an orange turban. You can go to one of the stores above, but, if you click on “Compare” and then click “Go” it compares prices across the internet – bingo! Very cool.

For the Video FlipCam Ultra the best price was at Walmart. I wouldn’t have checked Walmart online, and, the price isn’t available at stores. In less than five minutes I knew I had the best deal for me. Whether you buy stuff online, or, use it to comparison shop and buy offline, or maybe wait. Download it to your computer (it’s free) and you’re good to go.
